Overcome Self Doubt

Self-doubt is something we have all had issues with. It is something that holds people back from achieving results in many aspects of their life. It was something I definitely suffered with (and still do). However, my ability to deal with the doubt is way more advanced than what it used to be.
The problem with self-doubt is it causes people to put in a low level (or no level) of action and, therefore, they don’t achieve the results they want – which in turn causes more self-doubt.
Self-Doubt is defined by the dictionary as “lack of confidence in oneself and one’s abilities” 
See, my ability to deal with self-doubt has come from understanding what it means. To break it down, a lack of confidence comes from a lack of knowledge – which ultimately leads to self-doubt.
The ONLY reason I have ever doubted my ability is because of a lack of understanding. I used to doubt myself at school – because I didn’t have the information I needed to get high grades (which was my fault). But because I didn’t get the information, it caused me to want to put in less and less effort each time.
Now if we relate this to your career – If you want to achieve something you haven’t achieved before – then YOU WILL DOUBT YOURSELF – Fact.
But when you do, don’t run away from your target, attack it! If you run away from something because of the feeling of doubt, you will always be running.
Accept you are going to doubt yourself.
Let’s face it – If you are shooting for something you haven’t achieved before, then you should doubt yourself, and you should believe you can’t do it – because you haven’t done it!
Once you get over that fear and feeling of self-doubt, you will be able to achieve the life you want.
To get over the self-doubt there are 4 things you have to do:
1 – Accept you are going to doubt yourself
2 – Find a mentor who has achieved what you want to achieve
3 – Listen to their information
4 – Doubt the information, but do it anyway (you have no right to not apply the info)
Get rid of the excuses, get rid of the justifications such as:
  • It’s not for me
  • I can’t do it
  • I’m not ready
  • It’s not the right time
  • I’m sick
  • Bla Bla Bla…
These justifications don’t change or improve your situation
Instead, push through the doubt by listening and taking the time to understand what it takes to achieve your goal, by finding a mentor who has already discovered the path to what you want.
