I have spent a couple of years studying successful people. People can have success in many aspects of life. It could be wealth, sport, family or occupation. Now although these are all different areas of life, there’s one thing successful people have in common, and that’s the way they think.
It also seems that most successful people have come from some sort of adversity, or have had points where they have struggled! You always hear stories about how they “bounced back” from tragedy. The phrase “bounce back” is very interesting. Notice that successful people have an ability to “bounce” and not “break”, whereas people who try and fail tend to “break” rather than “bounce”.
Before finding success, many people are met with setbacks, and sometimes failures.
Many individuals when struck with a setback or a “failure” have a natural instinct quit or give up. The feeling of failure isn’t pleasant. And it’s true, at the time, failure isn’t profitable, however there is a lesson in every failure.
The difference between success and no success is mentality, and how you think. In times of adversity you should always be asking yourself “How do I obtain the right state of mind?”
The only obstacles you have in life are the ones in your thought process, if you can get your ‘think right’, then you can achieve anything you want.
I have 5 points on how to obtain the right mentality:
1: Spend time with people who have achieved the life you want – use them as your teachers
2: Spend time with people who have a great attitude – its infectious
3: Get rid of the naysayers – they will always doubt and remain in the same situation as they are in already
4: Don’t be afraid of the outcome – we all “fail” – get excited about the potential outcome
5: Enjoy the journey – You have to ride the waves – no one has had an easy journey to success, but once you are there – surely it’s worth it?
One of man-kinds biggest weaknesses is their ever growing familiarity with the word “impossible”. People are always quick to point out all the things that won’t work, and they are constantly telling people things can’t be done. Personally I don’t have any time for these people – they don’t have the courage, desire, passion or ambition to achieve what I want, and therefore I pay them no attention.
Get your think right, and you will get everything else right – enjoy!
